eLife is looking for an experienced email marketer to help us stay connected to our communities and make the most of customer relationship management. Reporting to the Head of External Relations and part of a vibrant and busy marketing and community engagement team, the Email Marketing Specialist will have primary responsibility for using email communications to help achieve our team and organisational objectives. A creative and flexible person, you will have the chance to take on new tasks and expand your skills.

Experience and attributes

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum two years' experience in email marketing and database management
  • Extraordinary commitment to quality and data integrity
  • A degree-level qualification in a related area
  • Great communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Strong organisational skills
  • An excellent eye for detail

The following would be beneficial but are not essential:

  • Experience with marketing automation
  • Understanding of SEM techniques
  • Art direction and/or copy-writing skills
  • Some technical understanding, of APIs or Drupal, for example
  • Interest and/or experience in STM publishing

Specific responsibilities

  • Optimising email growth and engagement in support of our marketing and community-engagement strategies
  • Preparing and executing email marketing campaigns
  • Overseeing the maintenance and development of our instance of CiviCRM, ensuring the data is clean, correct and managed in line with GDPR and other requirements
  • Leveraging CiviCRM to support the marketing team and organisation’s overall success
  • Helping create and deliver engaging digital marketing campaigns
  • Generating regular reports on marketing performance
  • Additional tasks as required

Terms and conditions

The post is a permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, and offers a competitive basic salary and benefits. The post holder will be required to work at the eLife office in Cambridge, and applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK to be considered for the vacancy.
