Join us on Wednesday July 26 for a webinar on interviewing for an academic job – what it's like, how to prepare, how to handle the live, interpersonal side of job interviews and completing fellowship applications. Our speakers will give the perspective of interviewees, interviewing panels, and professional careers advisors. Dr Emmanuelle Vire, University College London, Institute of Neurology, eLife Early-Career Advisory Group

Emmanuelle is a researcher working on epigenetics in neurodegeneration and joined the eLife early careers advisory group to contribute to the future of the scientific community, while ensuring the respect of fairness, transparency and quality of scientific communication.

Dr Martin Sauvageau, Senior Research Associate, Harvard University

Martin is a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology making the transition to an independent position. He has recently attended a large number of academic interviews and will be sharing what he has learnt from the process.

Dr Anne Forde, Careers Advisor for Life Sciences, University of Cambridge

Anne has a background in biomedical science and has previously worked as a postdoc and a journalist. In her current role as a careers advisor at the University of Cambridge she regularly helps junior scientists prepare for job interviews and has over 10 years' experience in assisting candidates to obtain a position.

Professor Dr Reinhard Jahn, Director, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry

Reinhard is a director at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry at Göttingen, Germany. He has been a vocal advocate of improving conditions for graduate students and mentoring female scientists. He has extensive experience of recruiting junior faculty members and can provide insight into the perspective of job interview panels.
