Event presentation: What’s new in the platform space?

A recent presentation on the current trends publishers should be addressing.

eLife’s Head of Technology, Paul Shannon, recently presented at the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) 10th Anniversary Conference and Awards in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. He was part of a panel session, entitled ‘What's New in the Platform Space? Alternative approaches and new players’, which included representatives from 123Doc, GVPi and Simon Inger Consulting.

Paul discussed the current trends and how publishers can adapt their platforms to address them. In particular, he looked at tools for online annotation like Hypothes.is and how publishers can incorporate this into their site, eLife’s work on supporting the desire for reproducible documents and eLife’s open-source platform of services and applications, Continuum, which has allowed eLife to better adapt to the needs of a wider audience.
