From the eLife Board: More than just a journal

Members of the eLife Board of Directors share their views on what we’ve achieved so far and where we’re going next.

In anticipation of eLife’s fifth anniversary, which we celebrated October 2017, we asked members of our governing board to think about how far we’d come and where we’re headed next.

Toby Coppel (Mosaic Ventures), Bill Hansson (Max Planck Society), Christian Hernandez Gallardo (White Star Capital), Nouria Hernandez (University of Lausanne), Jim Smith (Wellcome), and Robert Tjian (University of California at Berkeley) were some of our members at the time and offer their reflections in this video.

Together, they emphasise the value of the eLife peer review process and the interaction between authors and reviewers; of eLife being more than a journal – a platform that uses technology to bring publications to life and accelerate discovery; and the role of research funders in realising a change in culture across the scientific enterprise.

Since this video was produced, the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation joined eLife as a funder-partner and Prachee Avasthi joined the board to represent the early-career voice.
