The academic editors of eLife, the new open-access journal for the very best in life sciences and biomedical research, have selected four published studies to represent the breadth, quality, and importance of papers invited by the journal. Pre-tenure authors on the papers will present at the scientific meetings of eLife’s prestigious founding organisations: the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Max Planck Society, and the Wellcome Trust.
