This is a terrific entry-level opportunity to gain experience in scientific and medical publishing and to be involved in a ground-breaking initiative.
eLife works to improve the process of peer review so that it more effectively conveys the assessment of expert reviewers to authors, readers and other interested parties. We are creating a system in which we only peer review articles that are available as preprints, and in which research is primarily assessed on the basis of reviews from peers and not on the title of the journal in which it was published.

The ideal candidate should have:
- Great communication skills (spoken and written)
- Strong organisational skills
- An excellent eye for detail
- A desire to learn about scientific and medical publishing
In addition:
- A degree-level qualification is highly desirable but not essential
- In the absence of a degree-level qualification, work experience should demonstrate the attributes above and an appropriate level of maturity
- Candidates should be creative, flexible, and willing to take on a variety of tasks
Specific responsibilities
- Support authors during submission
- Conduct quality checks on submissions
- Provide proactive support for authors, editors, and reviewers throughout the editorial process
- Help to ensure timely decisions by monitoring submissions and sending reminders
- Post public reviews from the peer reviewers to accompany the preprint
- Update the website (e.g., author guidelines or when new editors join)
- Generate and monitor journal performance metrics
- Provide broader support for other members of the team
