Experience and attributes
We are a small marketing and communications team based in Cambridge, UK and remotely. This is a hybrid role and the post holder must be willing to travel to the Cambridge office at least once a month.

You will need to be independently motivated, flexible, responsive and willing to take on a variety of tasks. In addition the ideal candidate should have:
- 3 - 5 years’ work experience in marketing or communications (within the scientific publishing industry is preferred but not essential)
- Demonstrable track record in managing projects and marketing campaigns, including delivering high-quality results on time, under pressure.
- Proven knowledge of Hubspot, lead management and automation
- Experience of events management - identifying and managing sponsorships, webinars and conferences.
- The ability to take complex ideas and communicate them to a broad audience, through written and visual assets.
- Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail.
- Experience of digital marketing and tools, including GA4, SEO and SEM.
- Ability to work as part of a dynamic team but can also take responsibility and use your own initiative when necessary.
- Basic knowledge of Indesign and other Adobe design software.
Specific responsibilities
- CRM management – build automation (Hubspot) to support lead management, driving engagement from first contact to submission with support from the Senior Marketing Manager. Be responsible for other ad-hoc tasks to ensure the optimisation of the system, occasionally working with an external agency.
- Campaign planning and execution – take ownership for marketing campaigns to create and raise attention for eLife initiatives. Identify effective channels, create content and messaging, and oversee its implementation with support from the Marketing Assistant and Social Media Manager.
- Analysis and reporting – report and analyse campaign results, and other marketing data, provide specific insights, recommend tactics and changes to make campaigns and marketing activities more effective.
- Brand management – serve as the key point of contact for all things related to the eLife brand, working across the organisation to ensure consistent and effective brand alignment.
- Collateral/asset development – writing briefs and co-ordinating the creation of assets with contracted designers, or creating collateral in-house.
- Event management - manage the events budget and lead on duties associated with eLife sponsorships and events attendance with support from the Marketing Assistant.
- Content creation – drafting and proofing content for the eLife website, emails, blogs and other assets.
Terms and conditions
The post is a fixed-term maternity cover position, 37.5 hours per week, and offers a competitive basic salary in the range of £32,500-£36,000 (depending on experience) and benefits. The post holder can be based anywhere within the UK, but must have the ability to travel to the Cambridge office at least once a month. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK to be considered for the vacancy.
