Open-source Community Call: The latest developments in tools for reproducible research communication

Join this special call on tools for reproducibility and hear about progress on the Reproducible Documents Stack, Binder, Iodide and more – and to share your updates with the community.

Users and developers of emerging technologies for reproducible research, publishing and science communication are coming together for the fifth open-source community call this June. Join us for a lively discussion with presenters from across the world giving an update on their work on a number of open-source tools that aid the sharing and consumption of reproducible research.

It’s been four months since the last call, which covered among others – Plaudit, a platform-independent widget for public endorsements of open research; Jetfighter and Fixthejet, efforts to improve the accessibility of scientific figures by discouraging the use of Rainbow colour maps; and Europe PMC’s effort in indexing data availability statements.

This upcoming call will focus on tools for reproducible research. Amongst the updates, we will hear from Binder, a tool for turning reproducible notebooks into executable environments; the Reproducible Document Stack project for publishing reproducible articles; and Iodide, an interactive programming environment that runs in the browser.

Whether you have developments to share, or simply would like to listen in to hear what’s new, please register here.

More details about the presentations and the opportunity to contribute your own updates are on the open agenda. The agenda is open to anyone who would like to present, in five minutes or less, an open-source project that:

  • Has relevance to reproducibility and research communication, from sharing and discovery to reading and evaluation
  • Has recently been released or significantly updated, or is in active development.
