eLife Latest: Welcoming our newest editors

Bringing a broad range of expertise, 118 researchers join eLife’s editorial board and 13 assume senior roles on the leadership team.

Since November 2020, 118 scientists have joined our Board of Reviewing Editors (BRE), while 13 other investigators assumed senior roles on the eLife leadership team. The new editors work across all major areas of research considered for publication at eLife. Of those joining our BRE, we’re pleased to welcome three scientists who have previously been part of our early-career reviewer pool.

We would also like to thank our editors for their commitment to eLife during such an unusual and difficult year. Their invaluable support has enabled us to continue publishing research of the highest quality and delivering meaningful feedback to authors in a time that has brought uncertainty to many.

Researchers who have recently joined as Senior Editors include:

  • Balram Bhargava, Indian Council of Medical Research; Epidemiology and Global Health, Medicine
  • Nancy Carrasco, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine; Biochemistry and Chemical Biology, Medicine, Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics
  • Betty Diamond, The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research; Immunology and Inflammation, Medicine

Our Senior Editors are responsible for maintaining the high quality and broad scope of the work published in the journal. They decide, in consultation with members of the BRE, whether a paper should be sent for peer review. All manuscripts selected for review are then assigned to an appropriate Reviewing Editor who recruits reviewers and oversees the online consultation among referees.
