eLife latest: 27 new editors welcomed

eLife is pleased to welcome a new Senior Editor and 26 new members of our Board of Reviewing Editors.
Inside eLife

Since April this year, we’ve been delighted to welcome new members to both our Senior Editorial team and the Board of Reviewing Editors (BRE). Supporting the journal, they bring expertise across a number of subject areas, including biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology, cancer biology, cell biology, computational and systems biology, developmental biology and stem cells, ecology, epidemiology and global health, genes and chromosomes, genomics and evolutionary biology, human biology and medicine, immunology, microbiology and infectious disease, and neuroscience.

eLife’s Senior Editors are working scientists who have responsibility to determine whether initial submissions should be sent for peer review, typically in consultation with members of the Board of Reviewing Editors. Papers selected for review are then assigned to an appropriate BRE who recruits additional reviewers. Once reviews are in, the reviewers consult with one another to finalise the decision and form a consolidated set of comments for the author – a key part of eLife’s editorial process.

Andrea Musacchio, Director of the Department of Mechanistic Cell Biology at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund (Germany) joins eLife as a Senior Editor. You can find out more about his experience here.
